beet cake
I watch a lot of cooking videos, and I wouldn't mind if they made them more like this one. Very creative with a cool soundtrack. Turn it up and salivate.

seat for one.
I can safely say that most of my weight gain (yes, I did gain a bit) directly has to do with me spending time watching videos about food on the interweb. And watching shows like The Layover and this one. No Reservations. Chef man Anthony Bourdain tours to distant lands to eat food. Amazing gig, huh? In this episode, He travels to a place close to my heart.

food rap
Big up to LRG for this very creatively done promotional video. It seems they did it just for me as they combined two of my favorite things in life. Hip Hop and Food. Hip, Funky and Appetizing. This course is good for a second helping...Bon Apatite.

bunch of firsts for brunch
Bunch of first for Brunch this morning. Made my first pair of poached eggs. Blended my first frappe. Strawberries for the sweet tooth. It was a hefty meal that felt good. Nice accomplishment today, Shane. You did good.

bizarre foods in montreal
I love the food shows. Usually when I'm on a full stomach and I'm not near my kitchen. Be it as it may, Bizarre Foods is a favourite show of mine that's on the Travel Channel. On this episode they go Canadian and check out some eats in Montreal.

a sunday meal
Never need an excuse to make a huge meal for loved ones who wanna drop by on a Sunday afternoon. Got up early and did some preparing. It was good variety over some chai tea and talk and laughs. Here's some of the foods we took in including the fried kailan that my aunt brought over. Crisp and tasty.

the broad
I got introduced to a broad today. Broad Bean. Not so familiar with it, I did some investigating while I was eating the bean tomato pasta with healthy delight. Fascinating stuff you can do with the bean and even more cool is what goes with it.. An omelette, did ya say? Interesting. Also gotta try this broad bean and chick pea dish they mentioned. Chicks and Broads always seem to stick together...

blake's book..
As a web junkie and avid Google user, I know I should've known about Google Books before. I just started using it today. Granted, they need more selection for the cheap readers who don't want to spend a buck to buy a virtual book, but what I found I'm content with. Classics are always worth another whirl. The first e-book I read while having my tomato soup lunch (which was excellent, by the way, especially with my whole grain bread slices), was Songs of Innocence and Experience With Other Poems by .. In his manner, Blake delighted me with a few great poems that had me both laughing, tearing and a bit of both for a couple. Thought I'd share a couple of dandies with you..
A Little Boy Lost
``Nought loves another as itself,
Nor venerates another so,
Nor is it possible to Thought
A greater than itself to know:
``And Father, how can I love you
Or any of my brothers more?
I love you like the little bird
That picks up crumbs around the door.''
The Priest sat by and heard the child,
In trembling zeal he siez'd his hair:
He led him by his little coat,
And all admir'd the Priestly care.
And standing on the altar high,
``Lo! what a fiend is here!'' said he,
``One who sets reason up for judge
Of our most holy Mystery.''
The weeping child could not be heard,
The weeping parents wept in vain;
They strip'd him to his little shirt,
And bound him in an iron chain;
And burn'd him in a holy place,
Where many had been burn'd before:
The weeping parents wept in vain.
Are such things done on Albion's shore?
The Little Girl Lost
In futurity
I prophetic see
That the earth from sleep
(Grave the sentence deep)
Shall arise and seek
For her maker meek;
And in the desart wild
Become a garden mild.
* * *
In the southern clime,
Where the summer's prime
Never fades away,
Lovely Lyca lay.
Seven summers old
Lovely Lyca told;
She had wander'd long
Hearing wild birds' song.
``Sweet sleep, come to me
Underneath this tree.
Do father, mother weep,
Where can Lyca sleep?
``Lost in desart wild
Is your little child.
How can Lyca sleep
If her mother weep?
``If her heart does ake
Then let Lyca wake;
If my mother sleep,
Lyca shall not weep.
``Frowning, frowning night,
O'er this desart bright
Let thy moon arise
While I close my eyes.''
Sleeping Lyca lay
While the beasts of prey,
Come from caverns deep,
View'd the maid asleep.
The kingly lion stood
And the virgin view'd,
Then he gamboll'd round
O'er the hollow'd ground.
Leopards, tygers, play
Round her as she lay,
While the lion old
Bow'd his mane of gold.
And her bosom lick,
And upon her neck
From his eyes of flame
Ruby tears there came;
While the lioness
Loos'd her slender dress,
And naked they convey'd
To caves the sleeping maid.

it ain't no whip cream..
Apple pie with no whip cream. My first thoughts this morning. Decided on going with the Eggo Waffle. Dependable. Always there. Good for a nice sweat breakfast. Didn't hold for long, though. Thinking of giving that apple pie a second look. Without the whip cream, of course. Yogurt? Sure. Had that the other day. So good. I needed something sweet on my palate today. Just in that mood. Sweetness. Hot water is boiling. Gonna make some tea. Herb tea. Best. If it were nicer out, I would go have my second helping of breakfast outside. Rain. Wetness. Thinking of staying warm and dry. Guess the morning walk is out. Ditto for picking up the mail. And that little errand I was going to do today, too. I might just brave it. What the hell. I like the rain. It's nice. It ain't no whip cream on apple pie, though.

the oyster dish.
Had an early dinner date. Thought I'd get my mind off things and work on a plate of mine that never fails inside a room that I'm legend. The place. The Kitchen. The meal. Smoked oysters. The actual plate is an app, but tends to be so filling, I just add a bit more umph to my dip and a few more crackers and it becomes a finger-food full out meal for two. We both enjoyed it while we chatted about world events. We kept it light. War and Religion. Death came up too, The Oyster Dish isn't something I do too often. Even for myself. Frankly, I can't stomach them too many times in a year. So when I do make 'em it's special. And for someone special. I don't like to cook for just anyone. At anytime. I only use my skills for good and the good people in my life who I want to share my creative side with. While many ask for me to stir something up for them - usually drunk food at 3am after an all-night banger, I refuse. If they're close. For sure. I tend to make a great after-bar night pasta. Much more healthier than any fast food Mc joint. While our palates were having slight orgasms, we sat back and appreciated each others company just waiting for the next time I create something to have sparkling conversation over. Don't abuse your powers for just anyone. It's only the ones who care that will appreciate it and not take it for granted. An oyster dip tip before I go? Chives. Bon Appetite!

the right pinch..
Just the right pinch of peppers, salt, oregano, sour cream and curry powder, my curry chicken came out well this afternoon. cooked it up for an early dinner treat. Enough to last the night. The side of nan bread sparked the idea over the weekend when I went grocery shopping. Been feeling tired lately, but am still trying to be up and be creative. It's a short week as I'm heading down south for an extra long weekend. Going to do some early Birthday celebrations with the family and friends while working on some other stuff. It'll be a good way to officially start the summer of 2011. Away from everything for a bit will be a great time to reflect, acknowledge, ponder, appreciate, discard, be thankful and love. It'll be time to regroup and grow. Life can get very busy at times that you don't realize it till you have a breakdown and start to yell at everyone. Anywhere. It's not till you realize you're not mad at them. You're mad at life and you're stressed and you need to take a time-out. Time-out from life. Get focused and reevaluate my priorities. Life is too short to have headaches worrying about things you can't control. It's meant to be positive. With the right pinch of pepper to spice things up once in a while.

i'm alive...
Chocolate cake for Breakfast. Cake and Sprite. Leftover lasagna Lunch. BBQ wings for Dinner. Chocolate cake for a late night snack. Maybe some fruit rolled in there too operatically during my day of glut and fried foods. The occasion? That I'm alive, I guess.

we'll see how it works out..
Remember my browser problem from yesterday? Fixed. Well. I think it has. Downloaded Opera. So far so good. I like how it's very Mac without being Mac and still having the easiness and convenience of a PC. Ok. Won't get too nerd on you. Will leave it off there. We'll see how this works out. Will keep you updated. Rainy. Cloudy. Sun. Today. Might go out tonight. Might not. Not too sure. This weekend is packed with excitement. My motivational factor has gone down the toilet for the past few days. Don't know why. I seem to get a rush of adrenaline for a few hours then I crash hard. Like the after effects of drinking Rockstar. Never liked that drink. Tried it once. Blah. Stick with the old fashion Coffee, thanks. Double Double. Used to be Triple Double. When I used to ask for that, the coffee people would look at me weird as if I couldn't change it up a bit from the usual black, double, double, triple triple, and regular. I guess they have to do the math which obviously hurts otherwise they wouldn't be stuck where they are today. That was a bit of a rant. Needed to vent. Felt good. Now, let's see how this new browser thing works out....

need coffee
I need a coffee. I am nipping on peanut butter and honey sandwich right now. Need something to wash it down. Sweet and warm. Maybe a mocha? Mom came up with a good way of making one without the pleasure of having all those machines coffee shops have. Thinking of getting out this week. Spend the afternoon at a coffee shop. Work. Write. Relax. Get out. Be with the world.
The power of smell. Had a few dreams about ice cream last night. Woke up. Hungry. looked over. Realized I had my bowl of my midnight serving of double fudge on my desk.. I swear the bowl smirked at me, too in that I-now-control-your-thoughts-I-rule-your-soul kinda way..
Finished my sandwich. Crust is still there. Thinking of using it to mop up the peanut butter and honey that fell on my red plate. Good idea. Gotta finish this. I then can go upstairs. And make coffee.
