we out there

Came across this documentary the shopkeep was playing today when I was in a shoe store looking for new sneaks. Airwalk documentary on the skate scene in New York. Very well shot and far-out moves. Good Job, Airwalk.

the lego story

I used to love lego. Still remains a childhood toy I like to play with. Back then, however, I never knew I was really playing with my creativity. Feeding it.  Here’s a great 17-minute long animated film documenting the early years of the LEGO group.

made of stone

When my cousin posted this trailer for the new Stone Roses Documentary, Made of Stone, he aptly stated that if it wasn't for Stone Roses, we wouldn't have music. Well, maybe UK music. If you agree or disagreee, you can't deny the legendary status of the group. While we're seeing a lot of the reunion type music docs of our favorite groups from backintheday, I'm certain that this one will deliver.

cobain. in coffee foam?

After an emergency ride to the local Rexall this morning for coffee filters, I came home and saw this video posted on Alan Cross' blog. Thought it was fitting for a Sunday morning while having your morning cup.

the paddling machine

I know it's been a busy week of media mumbles. Thought we'd take a breather from the radio and tv movers and shakers and take in this short documentary on Berlin Style Ping Pong. Think Musical Chairs with a Ping Pong Paddle. Cool, huh?

hip hop quotable

Every word I say should be a Hip Hop quotable. I think the following is effective in a place like New York, but I don't think it can work anywhere else. Street Art with a message. I'm down.

rest well, koch

When I first heard the news about Ed Koch passing away, I wasn't going to post it. I didn't even know him. I later found out he was the colorful, outspoken New York Mayor for the later part of the 70s and most of the 80s. I then heard that filmmaker Neil Barsky released a new documentary about Koch today. "It's an insane, surreal day", Barsky told Time.

Checked the trailer. The Documentary looks good. Maybe I will watch it and learn about the late Mayor I didn't know anything about this morning.

Rest Well, Sir. Hope to get to know you better, soon.

jigga live

Industry circles have been bubbling about this documentary since early fall. It's a look at the making of Jay-Z performance at the Barcklays Center. The first person to ever bless the stage. From a former concert promoter standpoint, It brought back a lot of memories of putting on a show, coupled with shivers down my spine just seeing how far Hip Hop has come...

the story of yo! mtv raps.

It ain't like this anymore. Growing up with yearly trips down south, I was lucky enough to get a lot of my early Hip Hop knowledge from YO! MTV Raps. While our Rap City on Much was good at playing the best tunes, YO MTV was just a cultural masterpiece. Here's a new documentary about the making of the epic MTV show, YO! MTV Raps!. Hit it!
