rudy's got soul
A great short documentary about how something starts as an idea and becomes a sub-culture within a city. A name that was inspired by a bunch of graffiti kids and Fat Albert.

one for the history black books
This might be an inspirational video for some, but it does the trick for me. The video has a cool soundtrack, too. Turn it up and take it in. All props to the legends. Who do you think won?

gou and cope2
Got some stuff done today. The headache is back again. Not able to do as much as I wished to have done. Lazed the rest of the day away by eating, drinking tea and watching some hopefully inspirational stuff. Here are a couple of videos I really dug. One having to do with graf king Cope2 and the other to do with creative skateboarding with Gou Miyagi.

nice yanks cap, chap...
Each summer backintheday there was a Hip Hop festival called 416 Graffiti Expo. A day of free Hip Hop. Back to its roots. Outside. Not a park, but a parking lot. Graf, Breaking, Emceeing, DJing. An all day event that was all about Love, Peace and Having fun. A good day to reconnect with friends and celebrate the creative outlet that we all love. 416 has since left us, but the memories live on proudly. Always wondered what ever happened to the overwhelming amount of video cameras rolling and cameras clicking on those days. Today, I searched the interweb to check if I can find some of the those days on tape. This is what I came across. Classic footage from more than a decade ago. Spotted some familiar faces - especially that dude wearing the Yanks cap at 0:41. Good looking guy, Huh?

obey the rise..
If you're not hip to the streets or what the kids are wearing these days, Obey is one of the staples in fashion for the hip folks. Here's a short 3 minute and change documentary about the clothing line's founder and his graffiti beginnings. Very cool.

history unleashes genuis
Early start this morning. Fell asleep early. Got up just after midnight with the tele still on the news channel and they were talking about both Canadian teams winning their respective hockey game. I was happy. Stayed up for a bit to watch the highlights. Went back to bed. Still had a sound sleep, though. Refreshed. Woke up. Made tea. Cookies. It's been a while since I had cookies for breakfast. Gonna have to dig into some grapefruit to make up for my early sugar inhalation.
As I was doing my morning rounds 'round the interweb, I found this video and I found it inspiring. This dude always inspire me. Graffiti makes me smile. Even before the morning coffee.

If you're an art fan. Or a graf fan check out these two legends as they break it down for the first time in the Queen West Art Crawl
The Queen West Art Crawl is happy to announce that the Parkdale Nightcrawl will take place on Saturday, September 18th, from 7pm - midnight.
After a day of art-crawling, be seen at the hottest venues in Parkdale as they offer up a smorgasbord of art, music and style. Celebrate nocturnal culture on the wrong side of the tracks.
The Mascot is very proud to present "Ren" and "Daser", Canadian pioneering graffiti writers and founding members of the legendary TCM crew, who started graffiti writing in the early 80's.
