saul's doodle

The best Google Doodle appeared today on the popular search engine. The video celebrated Saul Bass' 93rd birthday. Bass was an American graphic designer and Oscar winning filmmaker, who was primarily known for his design of movie title sequences, film posters and corporate logos. Might have seen his work in The Man with the Golden Arm, and was the guy who did came up with  AT&T "bell" and its "globe" logo in the 80s.

hip hop quotable

Every word I say should be a Hip Hop quotable. I think the following is effective in a place like New York, but I don't think it can work anywhere else. Street Art with a message. I'm down.

beautifying the city that i call my (second) home.

Some more graffiti for a Tuesday afternoon. This time, this one has a personal touch. A part of a project to beautify Detroit, artists got together from around the globe. Featuring the talents of big names such as the king Revok.

gou and cope2

Got some stuff done today. The headache is back again. Not able to do as much as I wished to have done. Lazed the rest of the day away by eating, drinking tea and watching some hopefully inspirational stuff. Here are a couple of videos I really dug. One having to do with graf king Cope2  and the other to do with creative skateboarding with Gou Miyagi.

wallpaper is stuck on me...

It has been my favorite read for a long time. Since I got over the fallen off Hip Hop 'zines and sport reads. I needed something more to feed my instinctual apatite. With the right mix of seasoning and meat, Wallpaper Magazine's website is not only easy to navigate, but also pretty cool looking. What I like the most is that it fits the magazine's image. If you haven't read the magazine yet and into Art, Architecture, Fashion and Lifestyle, check out the site and then pick up the hardcopy version next time you grab that Grande at your local coffee pub slash magazine stand.

Check the Site Here.

butterfly

I always love listening to people's stories on how they got passion for what they do. This is a wonderful story about a local tattoo artist. Thanks to Kamau for the linkage.

back to basics..

Most of the time, the best pieces come to me while I'm not trying to brainstorm on what to create or thinking of catchy punchlines and status'. It's when I'm just being and letting my brain roam free. Like tonight for example. Listening to classical before I call it a night, this doosey popped into my head. Of course, I had to do it up using an image of my man I was kicking it with at the time, Mr. Johann Sebastian.
