thank you to the ol' lady..

While everyone packed up and headed north or traveled to The Falls, I stayed put. Caught up on some writing, some assignments, and relaxed. I never saw the big thing about trying to get away by going to a place where everyone else is going. Rather stay where I was. Eventually, everyone left and I had the town to myself. It was nice. Went out only on Friday. Went back into my bubble for the rest of the weekend. The soundtrack was Florence and the Machine and Fun heavy. Checked out both their debut releases. Both dropped back in '09. I also educated myself on some Country and reunited with some old Hip Hop favorites. Something about 90s Hip Hop and a warm sunny day. Perfect match. This afternoon, I warmed up the Barbie and made myself two burgers. Chips, Potato Salad and Fruits. Made up my meals. Very relaxing and peaceful Victoria Day Weekend. Thank you to the ol' Lady for a few days of peace and quiet and the few moments of excitement with the nephew thrown in between. It was Fun.

The creative folks at Google came out this morning with the Valentines Google doodle. Here it is. Still think it would be better if she shot him. No hard feelings, here.

i reminisce, i reminisce...

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

what to do..

Woke up early as per usual. Worked on my course and did some reading. Was done by 8. Now, I'm mentally drained as I did as much work as someone would do during a good two or three hour school day. It's not even Noon. What to do? I feel like going back to bed and hitting the books again this afternoon. Superman is written on my shirt, today. Gotta do some errands later. I'll take my time. Day is young. Maybe this afternoon. Isn't it going to rain? Minimal transit means I'm trapped, basically. Which is good. Maybe it's time to go back into my bubble and hibernate. This years' Halloween is going to be quiet, I think. Was thinking of dressing up like a hipster, but not too sure. If I go out I might do something. Wear something that could be cool. And at Fame level of original. Head throbbing. Eyes closing. Need to take another nap? It's early. Not even Noon. What to do?

happy thanksgiving

Today, I chose not to partake in the family turkey cutting sit down dinner. Not feeling too bright. As noted earlier, I'm just mentally exhausted. The couch has been my sanctuary. Constant naps while the TV left on and my computer screen glowing the good glow. Not too hungry, either. Turkey just wasn't in the cards. However, I still took a few minutes outside with a lit smoke and a cup of OJ to reflect. You always have room for that. You also should always have the appetite for appreciation for everything you have and the people who make you get up every morning. The people who make you smile, cry, scream, and everything in between. That is what brings balance in life and balance is what makes us stand up straight. Be mentally well today, this week and forever more.

To lighten the mood, thought I would share an old classic from one of my cartoon heroes...

martin luther king jr day..

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a United States holiday marking the birthdate of the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., observed on the third Monday of January each year, around the time of King's birthday, January 15. It is one of three United States federal holidays to commemorate an individual person.[1]

King was the chief spokesman of the nonviolent civil rights movement, which successfully protested racial discrimination in federal and state law. He was assassinated in 1968.

The campaign for a federal holiday in King's honor began soon after his assassination. Ronald Reagan signed the holiday into law in 1983, and it was first observed in 1986. At first, some states resisted observing the holiday as such, giving it alternative names or combining it with other holidays. It was officially observed in all 50 states for the first time in 2000.
