Haven't posted some any of my listening pleasures lately. Thought I'd hit you up with this nugget from the latest Volcano Choir project. Easily could've been part of the last Bon Iver album, Justin sings beautifully and with soul. This has been on repeat this week, as well as the new Wake Owl album - which I'll talk about later on this week. Till then, nejoy.



 

i like snow patrol.

I've been avoiding Snow Patrol for a while. Don't know why. I guess I thought they're way too cliche for Indie bands. But today, I heard this track and I had to admit to myself. I like Snow Patrol.

Interesting interview from '93. Kurt reveals some stuff including the fact he had scoliosis. For those who don't know, I had it. Had the surgery back in '92.  If you're a Nirvana fan, this is worth the listen. 

i want two books for christmas

I realized a few months ago that if you search well enough around the Tube, you can find some gold nuggets of some classic full albums. Here's my latest find. Tracey is keeping me company today, belting out her greatest hits. 

life is a mechanical bull, sometimes

Business picking up. Lost a longtime comrade. Had a bout of some evil disciple of death that went by the name of The Flu. Life. All is settling, however and hopefully will have more time to spend on here to post stuff. Summer is done, which means the radio posts won't be as constant - as that's the season of the moving and shaking.

As a peace offering, here's the latest album from Kings of Leon, Mechanical Bull - brought to you by the good people at Youtube. After a couple of listens, the album is good. Not great, but good. Passable. Good singles, nice album cuts. Have a listen and let me know what you think.

friend of mine - d-sisive

This video is cuter than my belly button. When I first heard the track a few months ago, it reminded me of those days in elementary school. The days when your stomach was in tangles because you had sent a special note to that special someone. When you finally get the reply, she wrote that she liked you. Only as a friend. Biz sang about it before, But D-Sisive busts out a story with a cute video to match - speaking for a whole new generation of `friends'.

Here is the latest video from UK outfit, Is Tropical.  The video is directed by underground photographer, writer and filmaker, Richard Kern. Only two records deep, the band  is already famously known for messed up visuals in their epic videos. This one is no exception.

of monsters and men

Whichever yougin' is in charge of the music selection at the Panara Bread in Troy, Michigan, has some good taste. They played the Of Monsters and Men CD, My Head is an Animal over and over again. Thanks to some quick Shazam action, I strolled over to Barns and Noble, bought a chai tea and listened to the group some more.  While they've been around for a few years, this was the first time I heard of them. And they've instantly become my latest greatest find. If you haven't heard of this indie-group from Iceland, give them a try. You'll love Little Talks.

paradise - city and colour

Spent the good part of my Sunday fixing my dish washer and realizing that my dryer might be my next opponent. In  the background, keeping my ears ringing and my head forming great mental visuals, was the new City and Colour album, The Hurry and the Ham. Now on his  forth project, Dallas returns with a sensible album with tracks like Thirst, The Lonely Life and the diddy below, Paradise - my favorite song on the 15 track release. Cop it and check out iTunes for the deluxe version. It's not only background music while doing your weekend chores, it's good Canadian music.

volcano choir returns

The supergroup of Volcano Choir made up of Bon Iver frontman Justin Vemon and Collections of Colonies of Bees recently announced that they'll be releasing new material.  Repave is the follow-up to the band's 2009 debut, Unmap. The drop date is due for September 3rd via Jagiaguwar. The album will have eight songs that were written between November 2010 and March 2013. allergies and the lab

Yesterday, Mike Stafford was talking about his sudden attack of allergies. I thought to myself, that the allergies will attack me in a month or so. Boy, was I wrong. Woke up with a full blown allergy beatdown. Watery eyes, sneeze attacks. Headache. Even though I felt like death, I headed out to fight the  days  fight. By the time I was coming back home, the attack had gotten a hundred times worse. However, one thing that got me through the day was reuniting with the music of Stereolab. As much as I wanted to turn it up, my throbbing head didn't allow me. Therefore, I  kept it at a good volume. Loud enough to bump, low enough to keep my head from exploding.

If you suffer from allergies, take my advice. Tea, Rest and some of these beats to make you feel all better. Doctor's orders.

never wanted your love - she and him

Cruising around Pitchfork this morning and noticed that one my favorite hippy-folk-guitar-strumming-duo's, She and Him released new material earlier this year. Never heard any buzz till now. Pitchfork gave it a 7.5. The first single I checked out was Never Wanted Your Love. Dear Zooey returns with her sweet nothings while the dude in the background strums along.  She and Him Volume 3 is out now, kids.

get away - de la soul feat. the spirit of the wu

If there's still one group in Hip Hop that I get fuzzy feelings about when they drop new product, it's De La Soul. The new single, Get Away doesn't disappoint. The track gets extra points for the Wu Samples.

made of stone

When my cousin posted this trailer for the new Stone Roses Documentary, Made of Stone, he aptly stated that if it wasn't for Stone Roses, we wouldn't have music. Well, maybe UK music. If you agree or disagreee, you can't deny the legendary status of the group. While we're seeing a lot of the reunion type music docs of our favorite groups from backintheday, I'm certain that this one will deliver.

 

12 hours to please please me

Going to watch this whole documentary later on today while I do some spring cleaning. Here's a look at how they remade the Beatles classic, "Please Please Me".

holdin' on

Was bed ridden all weekend. I started to get this worm in my throat last week. It evolved into a bad cold. Every part of my body was being attacked by trigger happy gremlins who were living inside me. A steak knife happy  alien was on a solo mission in my throat to cut my throat off every time I breathed. However, with a lot of rest, an overdose on a helluva drug called Extra Strength Benilyn, and steaming hot tea, I am feeling much better. Throat is still sore, muscles, still sore, but  it'll pass. By Wednesday I'll be back to my 100% self.

You just gotta Hold On. And with that...
