morrissey collapses during concert

News from NZ Herald
British singer Morrissey was rushed to hospital after collapsing on stage yesterday with breathing problems, emergency services said.

The 50-year-old former frontman of 1980s pop band The Smiths fell ill while performing at the Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon, southwest England.

His condition was not thought to be life threatening, according to an ambulance service spokeswoman who said he was conscious but not feeling well when medics arrived at the centre.

Morrissey is touring Europe and North America after releasing his ninth solo album, Years of Refusal, in February.

our kids: what would steiner do?

A body, in effect, is only part and parcel of another body, but the self, the ‘I’ of man exists in and by itself alone — “I am I.”

I was out for beer the other week with an old high school friend. While on the patio to grab some fresh air, my friend asked me a question.

Do I think I’m a Waldorfian? Post Waldorf.

I asked him what he meant.

He asked if I ever thought that I fit the stereotypical Waldorf format of what a Waldorfian kid should be.

I wondered for a bit.

I had to say Yes. I think I am. No. Wait. I know I am.

I felt like a music artist who had to admit to himself he makes pop music. It was hard to conceive. But it’s true.

We weren’t talking about how we fit in the physical Waldorf get-up, but how we are spiritually. Does our spiritual beliefs system go along with the ones that Waldorf taught us years ago?

As a kid, you refuse to be or sound or think like your parents. It makes you feel old. It makes you realize that you are becoming something you never thought you would. Just like That Pop Star. However, you have that moment, when you realize that you just said something that your mom told you years ago. Or that you just made a track that you know 11-year-olds will love and you’ll start having day autograph sessions at huge malls.

This is kinda the same thing. It’s not that the values that were instilled into you were bad or wrong, it’s just that it’s a sign that you’re growing up and maturing and realizing it’s time to be wise, and, well, grown up.

When I left Waldorf, I did take some words of wisdom from the round school and never thought I’d look back. But when confronted with the worst situations, or trying to figure something out, I found the answer. Later I would realize that it’s something that Steiner would do, too.

WWSD for short.

So what am I talking about in regards to what exactly Waldorf instilled into me at such an innocent age? It taught me that the soul and self is the greatest gift you’ll ever receive – and to cherish it. They taught me that individualism is gold. I learned about love and appreciation for nature. Waldorf guided me to always think for myself and question what others bring onto you. The round school also showed me that mass media is not always to be trusted and there’s other ways to have fun rather than using electronic sticks and surfing the interweb. But it was the philosophies that surround these belief pools that help guide me everyday.

Do I wonder What Would Steiner Do? Yes. I do. And now I’m old enough to be proud of it.

Sad loss....

yeah. me just being me...

Up. Still. I can't seem to sleep. It's one of the times when I think of someone when I was going to call and I know he would tell me everything is Ok. Everything would always be OK with him. But he's gone. I kinda feel like I still have to adjust. Move on. Progress. He was my best friend. He always will be. She will be, too. Always. Balance, Shane. I listen to a lot of Hip Hop. Like I've always said before. It helps me love life. It helps me appreciate art. It helps me appreciate life. But more than most times. I tend to listen to Hip Hop when things are going bad. They're not really, but sorta. Kinda way..Hip Hop is like that friend of yours. You can always relay on them and know they'll always cheer you up. Hip Hop does that to me. Cheer me up. Love it. I think this modern generation should get more of that positive reinforcement going on. I don't think this generation belives in anything anymore. Not like how we did. We believed in wrestling. We believed in Hip Hop. We believed in our Friday night Tele shows.. We had a back bone to rely on when it comes to backing up our philosophies. What does this generation have? The internet? MSN? Yeah. Sure. Anyway, I wish sometimes, we were back in the day. When I was a kid. But I'm not a Kid anymore. I can't still sleep. I refuse to think of the revolution.

love. poem. poem. love.

A natural type of love. A remarkable type of love.
Light as a feather. Beautiful as a dove.
Two souls sharing one human mind.
Mankind brought two souls together.
Touches soft as a feather.
Two souls sharing one human mind.
A kind of love no one will ever find.
Again. Thought to be some type of wonderful.
Fought for this. Caught over and over betraying.
But for the right reason.
The new season come.
Never it was same. Again.
Man. Woman. Together. Forever.
Till eternity comes.

sometimes, progression makes me sad

It's been a while. Sorry folks. Over the weekend I got my internet working again. My computer is still messed, but at least I can get on the interweb and update my blog. The week sans 'puter was pretty hard. I realized how much we really do rely on technology. Cells, digital this and digital that. I don't think it's sad, really. It's progression. As we grow so does our mediums to get our voices heard. However it's sad that we can't still rely on the other ways to communicate. When was the lat time you wrote a letter and actually mailed it? Yeah. Me too. When was the last time you texted someone sitting at the same table? Last week? Yesterday? Just now. Yeah. I do that, too. Hate it, but I do. Sometimes, it's just needed. It's the new way to tell a secret. So does this mean that as time goes on, or as progression goes down its road, the art of speaking will be gone, too? Huh. I hope not. Maybe in years to come, we will miss the days when we sent an e-mail or a text message or even when we wrote a blog and informed our friends about our computer troubles. I'm afraid for the future but thankful that my world is back to normal.

barflies...

Barflies old guys. Hellos and Goodbyes. Laughs, cheers, sorrows and sighs.
Drowned in an ocean of lqiuror thinking If I should seek her twas good to meet her.
I tell her patting on black fur up to her knees while she sees another gent to give her a drink and a dent in his money clip.
Taking a sip of my pint blue, I flip the script and write in my book.
Ignoring the girl dem wodering if the fem dem will notice.
I ask for another bombing various nouns, adverbs and vers till I wait by the curb before the call.
Looking back to when we did the same at the mall years ago with the laughs cheers sorrows sighs hellos and goodbyes.

d-sisive at planet mars

The good folks over at City Sonic made this video that really brought me back to the early days of Toronto Hip Hop. Planet Mars was my first introduction to the local Hip Hop scene. That was when I realized that this culture that I thought only resonated stateside was alive and well here in the north country. The concept of the show later inspired me to do a show in my neighborhood which would later become known as Northern Flow. Stay tuned for a more in depth write-up on that one. In the meantime, check the video and get yo learn on.
