end of november..
Tomorrow is the end of November. It's been a long month. It was a good experience. I know moustaches aren't for me. If I didn't care about supporting the cause this month, It would've been gone a long time ago. I would've shaved it off. Gone. But I didn't. I'm happy I held strong and kept my head high, sporting the moustache proudly. The rain doesn't help with my motivation. Just makes me want to sleep. Especially today since I'm just getting over a bit of a cold and the laziness that comes with cold meds is still in my system. Sleep the day away. Woke up, however. Got my stuff done. Wrote. E-Mailed. Read. Finished a chapter. Sometimes it pays to wake up early while the world sleeps. No interruptions. Just you and your work. It might be rain, but I woke up craving tea rather than coffee. I need coffee in the morning to wake up. But today, tea was a great substitute. It got me going. Kept me warm. Kept me fresh. The taste of honey and natural flavours first thing in the morning is a wonderful thing. As December approaches, I'm happy it's rain rather than snowing. Can you believe it? No snow. And tomorrow is the last day of November. I worry about Mother Nature's health.

tough work for a monday morning..
Damn metal container. Got a cut this morning trying to dig out the sausages. Tough work for a Monday morning. I screwed up my moustache. This is why people who wear glasses should wear their glasses when shaving. I got used to it, but it looks kinda odd, I think. Almost done. Thinking a beard for December. Keep warm. Gonna do a longer entry this week for Movember. For now, got some reading to do and some more writing. It's tough work for a Monday morning.

for mark..
Hey There Bud. I know I haven't checked in. Been busy. Doing this Movember thing. Been thinking about you a lot though. When I first thought of maybe growing a moustache for a whole month, I thought of Tom. And I thought of You. And I thought it's not an option. I have to. Have to do it for my boys. If this month I don't make any money at all, I'm happy that I tried to follow in your footsteps in raising awareness for Prostate Cancer. Putting on Dailey's shoes is a large task in its self. It'll be hard to try to duplicate everything you did for Cancer research, Bud, but we're trying. I'm trying. With you in mind. And I know that you are here with us. By our side cheering us on and reporting back to the crew at the big radio and TV station in the sky how our progress is. Thank you. Thanks for the encouragement you gave me and many others while here on earth and now while you're looking down on us. Words you shared with me. Advice you kindly gave me and that twinkle in your eye when you snapped one of your famous one liners, will never be forgotten and are thought of..well. Daily. (That pun was for you.)
While Movember is close to its end for another year, I will continue to fight so we can get some type of cure for this deadly monster. I will do it for you and Tom and know that my boys will be there rooting me on like you two always did.
Will check in again, soon.
Stay well.
Shaner.

careful around the edges..
Gotta be more careful. Almost lost ya there. Prettied up Mr. Moustache and almost made a rookie's mistake by making it uneven. If it kept on going that way, I would've had to have shaved the whole thing and start from scratch. Something I don't plan on doing. Long story short, saved the little scrawly thing and it's still at home on top of my lip. The picture I took today made me realize how much weight I'm gaining. I'm getting a bit chub in my face. Don't know what to really think about that, actually. But I guess that's for another day. To Help out on my Movember mission, click here to join my team or donate.

clean shaven
Day one. Shaved clean as per the rules. Let the growing begin. As November begins, it also represents the beginning of my Movember debut. Like watching your veggies grow at the beginning of spring, I'm constantly looking at my face waiting for the 'stache to come in. I can't wait anymore. Let's get this thing started. I want to reap the benefits. I might have stated before, but what I really want to get out of this Movember experiment is accomplishment. And appreciation for life. And how thankful we need to be for being well. Having health. I guess you can say mental and physical health is my main goal this month, but also remembering the fallen friends who lost their life from Cancer. Ironically, one of my best friends who passed away from the Big C died in November of 2004. I'll be thinking of Tom this month a bunch. Shaved clean. Waiting. Here's to day one.

trivial smug
As the nervousness creeps in for my first attempt at Movember, I am also kinda excited. I don't think I have ever had any type of facial hair for more than three weeks. Beard, Gotee, long-ass sideburns. I've done it all. Except for the moustache. Hence my nervousness. I then realize what this is all for. Why I'm doing it and most importantly, who I'm doing it for. I strike my superficial suspicion and decide to march on with the Movember mission with no restrictions. Be Brave. Be strong. Words muttered by a friend of mine who died from Cancer in 2004. Another once said to keep on smiling - If it ain't gonna kill you....you know the rest. He actually said it like that, too. Good souls who lost their lives from being brave, smiling and being strong on their last legs. I'm not on my last leg. I've got a few more miles to run and I'm loosing it over a moustache? Smarten up as one Cancer survivor I know would advise. I hope I can borrow from the strength I gained from the solders who battled the Big C and humbled to look past the trivial smug that we tend to think about too much without even realizing it. Just in time for the holidays, hopefully I'll learn about the delicate fabric this life is made of.

my movember debut
I'm doing my first Movember next month. I am scared. I look awful with moustaches. I was never a fan. I grew up liking dudes who had them. Tom Selleck, Mr. Fuji, Super Mario. I was always a beard dude. Rugged and Raw. The first time I tried a 'stache out was when I was shaving for some high school dance. I looked at myself in the mirror. Wondered. Walked out in the hall and into my sisters' room. She was on the floor doing stuff. She sat on the floor a lot, come to think of it. Anyway, I walked in. Before I was able to say what'chu think?, she yelled No. I walked out and shaved the little top lip warmer immediately. It lived a short life. Two Halloween's ago, I sported a handlebar one. That one was cool. It was so cool, people thought it was fake. This year it's different. I guess the C word has started to hit closer and closer to home as the years go by and I felt I need to do something to help the yelling people do about awareness of the deadly killer. And how we will find a cure. Obligatory word. Will. Someday. It's just the Movvembers, and runs and various events that help spread the word. Writing a blog entry, talking about it on my radio show, designing a poster and posting it on my page sidebar, isn't enough. We need more Movembers. More runs. More events. At least we got next month to help out. As I will walk around next month looking kinda out of place with a moustache, I will rock it with pride knowing I'm not the only one feeling out of place but trying to do something to find the cure.
If you would like to help me in my first Movember you can either join my team or donate Here. Thanks!
