the soul of fase...

I first met DJ Fase back in either 2000 or 2001 when he was just starting to make his moves in the weekly Hip Hop circle spinning at various shows and starting off his own weekly night called Footwork. He also appeared on a couple of my favorite Hip Hop radio shows on college stations. Fast forward eight or so years, Fase is continuing to build his name in the community and is still running Footwork which has become the legendary Tuesday nighter that just celebrated its 9th year in business. One reason why Fase is one of my top disk jocks in Toronto is that he can diversify his vinyl collection to relate to the crowd. This mix he put up today totally proves my point. It's a the Sweet Soul Mixtape. The free download is to promote The Big Ticket show on May 30th where "for one night and one night only, six of the city’s most talented and versatile DJ’s will take centre stage". The show will feature the likes of Fase, Birthday Boy DJ Agile, P Plus, and many more. The tape is worth the download which you can do here and then on the 30th check out Fase and company live. If you need more info on The Big Ticket check out their Facebook Event page or peep the video below.
