planet b-boy..

While everyone is taking the journey to the cinema to watch the guy movie of the summer or the girl flick of the year, I much rather go check out Planet B-Boy and I urge you to do the same, too. The brainchild of Toronto born filmmaker Benson Lee, the film "will take you inside the international, underground b-boy scene happening today in Japan, France, Germany, South Korea, and the United States" The film will also "explore the most compelling stories and characters of five of the best b-boy crews from around the globe as they prepare to face off at the Battle of the Year - one of the most prestigious b-boy events in the world, held annually in Germany that serves as the World Cup of b-boying. Along the way", the film plotline continues, the film "will gain a poignant insight into their lives, their friends and families, and their unique cultural and social situations that drive them to devote their entire lives to the dance".

Planet B-Boy was named the second highest rated film at this years Hot Docs Festival determined by the audience who filled out ballots at the show.

It's been a while since there's been a good Hip Hop documentary that the culture can use as a teaching tool for the upcoming B-Boys and Girls. Be sure to check it out if you respect the culture and the movement of break.
