perez gets radio countdown show

As a kid, I grew up listening to the best countdown guys in North America. Rick Dees and Casey Kasem topped the list. As the years went on, new pipes got on the microphone for syndicated gossip heavy contempoary hit radio at its best. If done well, it was the best example of what TOP40 music radio should sound like. Today, I read that fab blogger Perez Hilton will be joining the marching band as he will premier his own countdown show early next month. After thinking about, it makes sence. I would be interessted in hearing it. I think it will be fun. I think he will bring his own brand to the board and make the show his own. Hopefully Virgin will pick it up as they already have him doing morning show cut-ins. Here's the official blabber from Hilton, himself.

Westwood One (NASDAQ: WWON) is pleased to announce, in partnership with C-Student Entertainment, The Fab 30 Countdown with Perez Hilton will debut on radio stations nationwide the weekend of April 3, 2010. The four-hour weekend countdown show will broadcast live from Los Angeles and feature hit music as selected by Perez himself, plus Hilton’s unique take on entertainment stories, celebrity interviews and more. The Fab 30 Countdown with Perez Hilton will launch on stations in the top 3 markets New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, among other markets. Stations airing the show will be announced in the coming weeks.

"I am beyond excited for The Fab 30 because it is the perfect vehicle for my skills and passion - celebrity news and music!” exclaimed Perez. “Nobody does gossip like I do and over the years I have earned the respect of my readers and the industry alike with my music recommendations. I'm determined to produce the best weekly show out there with the best music, the best gossip and - very importantly - the best guests. I can hear Ryan Seacrest crying already!"

“Perez is an amazing talent who knows Hollywood, knows music and knows how to bring them together for great radio,” said Max Krasny, Westwood One SVP Entertainment. ”Perez and his audience will be a huge hit with our affiliates and advertisers.”

“We are thrilled to partner with Westwood One to bring the biggest celebrity blogger in the world to listeners coast-to-coast,” said Steve Lehman, C Student Entertainment. “Perez is a pop culture icon. His priceless gift of gab, passion for music and uncanny sense for ‘the next big thing’ are a perfect fit for radio.”

The Fab 30 Countdown with Perez Hilton will bring you the hottest CHR/Top 30 music and entertainment programming in the country. The countdown show will feature the top entertainment stories, juicy gossip, celebrity guests, fashion commentary and more as only Perez can deliver.

About Perez Hilton

Perez Hilton is the internet's most notorious gossip columnist. The LA Times calls Perez, “like US Weekly, the Star, the Enquirer and Life & Style all rolled into one sweet yet snarky, sagacious yet salacious gay man." Perez was named the #1 Web Celeb for ’07, ’08 and ‘09 by Forbes Magazine as one of the 15 most influential Hispanics in the US by People in Espanol. Since launching in 2004, PerezHilton.com — originally named PageSixSixSix.com– has become one of the leading go-to sites for celebrity news. Perez has become a celebrity in his own right. In 2007, he was a contestant in MTV's Celebrity Rap Superstar and premiered his very own show, What Perez Sez on VH1. In 2009, Hilton made headline news around the world while serving as a judge for the Miss America pageant. He also launched his mobile website at m.perezhilton.com, a new fashion website CoCoPerez.com and two best sellers in 2009, Perez Hilton’s Red Carpet Suicide and Perez Hilton’s True Bloggywood Stories.
