happy birthday, mr. rogers

Ted Rogers turned 75 today. The man considered as the most powerful media guru in Canada, started his empire when he bought all the shares in local FM station CHFI at a time when only a minuscule five percent of households had FM transmitters. That was in 1960. Five years later, he got into the cable business and Rogers Communications has since grown as Canada's largest media conglomerate.

Since his early days Rogers has become the kingpin of hundreds of Canadian radio and TV stations including most recently the CITY-TV chain of stations and the Jack format line in the northern land. He also became the proud owner of the Toronto Blue Jays in 2000.

Ted Rogers is truly a Canadian treasure. Here's to many more birthdays, Ted.
