(the beginning of) a story of an artist...
D-Sisive has been around for years. I've been a supporter of his for years and it's great to see that the Toronto born emcee is finally putting out some product. Born Derek Christoff, the tall chubby Eglinton West rapper has gone through his dues and also had his name in lights however, when his first full length LP drops next month it'll feel that the long journey would just be getting started for this local under appreciated talent. In a city where the urban industry circle is small and everyone who you know knows someone in the biz and has a mixtape to give you, D-Sisive's unique punchline rap and creative marketing styles has made this young visionary able to stick out from the crowd and have people take notice. Then comes his mic skills which he does have and in my opinon makes him one of the better true emcee's in the city without the ever wanted ` major deal'.
But does D-Sisive need a deal to get noticed and make it big? Don't think so. He's already half way up the ladder doing everything by himself. His natural abilities and progressive thought process will make people notice him where ever he travels. And this album is just proof that he's capable of it.
D-Sisive:The Book (Urbnet) will be available online and in stores May 27th. In the meantime, here's the official video for the first single from the LP, Story of An Artist
