arlene bynon new drive home host on 640 toronto

Sometime the radio suits do good. I just recently started to listen to Arlene in the past year or so when she started to follow Stafford on 640 Toronto. I also like to tune in on the weekend when Bynon is hosting. I say get rid of Charles Adler, and 640 would have one steller line-up. And oh yeah. All that Leafs talk could go, too. Here's the official press release from the station sent out today.

Talk Radio AM640 is pleased to announce that award-winning Canadian journalist Arlene Bynon is the new afternoon drive host starting today. The Arlene Bynon Show can be heard weekdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will provide listeners with an interactive forum for debate and discussion on topics that matter, feature exclusive interviews with today’s newsmakers and deliver a daily recap of current affairs.

“Arlene is a highly respected broadcaster with a depth of knowledge, credibility and experience that make her a welcome addition to our stellar and talented lineup which includes John Oakley, Mike Stafford and Charles Adler,” said Gord Harris, Senior Program Director, Talk Radio AM640. “Arlene’s midday show was very popular among our listeners and her move to afternoon drive will further reinforce our commitment to provide our listeners with informed, engaging and entertaining current affairs talk radio that the station is known to deliver.”

“I am looking forward to building on the strength of AM640’s talk radio brand,” said Bynon. “Nothing is taboo and nothing is too controversial – we’re here to give listeners access to the newsmakers and to discuss, debate and exchange opinions on current issues affecting their lives.”

Arlene Bynon is an award-winning, groundbreaking broadcast journalist who has covered major local, national and international issues in her 20+ years as an interviewer, anchor and reporter. She was the former host and producer of the Gemini-nominated television show, Bynon, as well as the multi-award winning radio program, Chronicle. Bynon was a columnist for the National Post and has also reported on exclusives and features for the Globe and Mail, the Toronto Star, The Mail on Sunday, the New York Post and other print outlets.

With The Arlene Bynon Show in afternoon drive, Tina Trigiani assumes Bynon’s midday time slot from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Bill Watters will continue to share his vast knowledge of the Toronto Maple Leafs and all things hockey related weekday mornings on The John Oakley Show as well as all season long during all AM640 Toronto Maple Leaf pre-game shows. Talk Radio AM640 is also proud to be Toronto’s “Home of The Leafs” as the official play-by-play broadcaster. With a stellar lineup of veteran hockey broadcasters including Bill Watters, AM640 is the city’s number one source for Leaf Hockey Talk.
