do something.org

Do Something believes you have the power to make a difference. It is our aim to inspire, support and celebrate a generation of doers: people who see the need to do something, believe in their ability to get it done, and then take action. At DoSomething.org we provide the tools and resources for you to convert your ideas and energy into positive action. Be part of a generation of doers.
Five guidelines we live by:

1. Believe in teenagers. Teenagers can lead today. We don't require adults.
2. Trust teenagers. We provide reliable, easy to access information and activation strategies, but teens decide for themselves what to do.
3. Celebrate teenagers. We think all measurable contributions from teens are valuable.
4. Respect teenagers. We understand that teenagers have diverse abilities and
constraints.
5. Value teenagers. Our programs and products are free. We're not after teens'
money; we want their passion, time and creativity.

On a related note local promoters REMG will be doing a show along with Hopeless Records and Sub City where 10% of all ticket sales will be going to DoSomething. Here's a bit more about the show..

REMG, Hopeless Records, and Sub City are proud to present the Take Action! Tour live at the Phoenix Concert Theatre on Saturday, February 14.

The Take Action! Tour 2009 lineup will feature headliner CUTE IS WHAT WE AIM FOR, along with MEG & DIA, BREATHE CAROLINA, EVERY AVENUE, and ANARBOR. The annual nationwide charity tour, now in its eighth year, raises funds and awareness for youth involvement in charitable action, and for the second straight year Take Action has chosen not-for-profit organization DoSomething.org to benefit from the funds raised and to help spread the message of action to young people across the country.

This year's headliner CUTE IS WHAT WE AIM FOR, touring in support of its second full-length release Rotation, is one of the brightest bands in the current music scene. They will be joined by a band on the brink of mass crossover, Utah's MEG & DIA who are thrilled to be onboard as part of the Take Action! Tour.

The tour will also feature Denver's BREATHE CAROLINA, a two-piece band fusing elements of electronica and punk/post hardcore, touring in support of its latest release It's Classy, Not Classic; Marysville, Michigan natives EVERY AVENUE promoting their new full length record Shh, Just Go With It; Hopeless Records' ANARBOR who's early buzz on their digital release, The Natural Way, indicates that big things are in store for the pop-rock four-piece.

10% of each ticket sold will be donated to DoSomething.org, a national not-for-profit that believes that young people have the power to make a difference. They inspire, empower and celebrate a generation of doers: young people who recognize the need to do something, believe in their ability to get it done, and then take action.
