watch it buddy, city looses silverman..

BlogTO broke the news yesterday but it looks like Rogers is continuing to move around personalities at CITY-TV - the companies latest pick-up. According to a memo distributed yesterday around 299 Quest Street West, Peter Silverman's long running Silverman Helps bit during the stations evening newscast has been axed effective immediately.

The following is what the CITY newsers read yesterday:

Today we informed the group that works in "Silverman Helps" that this segment of the news will discontinue in its current format. For nearly two decades, Peter Silverman and Terry O'Keefe's unit have brought closure to many viewer complaints. We feel however that the marketplace for investigative journalism is evolving and CityNews will reformat the consumer beat in the fall. Effective immediately, the "Silverman Helps" stories will be discontinued. We thank Peter, Terry and Cristina for their contribution to the newscast.

Peter Silverman is just the second cut Rogers has made since taking helm. Amber MacArthur, who got axed just a few days into 2008, was the first victim.

In related CITY News, who will be getting the new seat over at CityLine after Marylin Dennis steps down? Looks like media insiders are looking towards Rogers' favorite female host Erin Davis. Even though the station still hasn't confirmed that the show will be returning for another run under new blood, it'll be interesting to see where they would go if they were to look for a new face.
