radio stuff..
I was checking out the legendary yellow radio board the other day and was please to see a name that I haven't thought of for a while - Wayne McClain. Wayne was one of the first radio guys I knew about in Toronto when my passion for the sport was building. I don't remember how I found him but I do remember me tuning in every night when he was on CFRB. One night that I especially remember was when he had Toronto Sun wrestling 'scribe Frank Zicarelli in to talk 'resslin. I decided to call in to ask a question. I believe the question was if the ref's knew what was going to happen but it wasn't the question that got the listeners laughing. As a young 8 year old kid years before I hit puberty, I said hello to my favorite talk radio guy and the wrestling writer. Quicker than my hello, McCalin asked if I was the Lovely Miss Liz - who was managing and married to The Macho Man at the time. I will never forget that time when Wayne McClain thought I was a girl.
My Dad continues to tell this story to all the girls I bring home.
MIX is doing spring cleaning. Seems like they've axed Steve Anthony. Steve has been in my favorite Toronto radio/tv people since his days at Much when it was a real nation music station. Also gone from MIX is their PD. Not too worried about Steve as he's always been able to find something to do but it's always upsetting when your long time favs are forced to be quiet for a bit.
If you ask me, however I think he'll be great in a talk radio format. Are you listening 640?
